I could barely contain my excitement after receiving Christine Haggerty‘s book, Acquisitions, in the mail about a week ago. Yes, I have a book in my hands with actual pages. Regrettably, I did not have the time to read it until this past weekend. Once I picked it up, I only put it down to sleep. It was that enjoyable! I would highly encourage reading this book. It is a quick read with interesting and dynamic characters. I am already eagerly awaiting the sequel.
Here is a brief synopsis.
The book takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. It has been half a century since the world was decimated by a bio-engineered plague, and there is a group of military scouts that are seeking out slaves. With his family dead, a teenager named Cameron Landry is selected for shipment to a civilization called Salvation with a group of kiddos from his orphan home. The twist is that some of those that have survived are mutants, stronger and faster than humans. Cameron is well-aware of this difference as Devon, a mutant from the orphanage, is taken with him. Devon has an insatiable hunger and hatred for Cameron that is seemingly unchangeable. Cameron is finding that he cannot hide from his past, his future, or Devon.
